Barefoot saddles are made from Nubuck and Soft leather.
Nubuck leather has the grain layer partly sanded off which makes it softer and gives it its characteristic velvety feel.
Soft leather has a smooth, soft surface and is especially pliable.
Both kinds of leather are open-pored and therefore have a soft, pleasant feel and a gentle grip.
This suppleness allows the saddle to adjust perfectly to the horse's back whilst providing good stability, comfort and long-lasting quality.
Grease or wax should not be used on Nubuck or Soft Leather as they can clog up the pores of these leathers. We recommend the use of the Barefoot Care Range.
