Riding without a saddle is now possible without harming your horse!Most bareback pads or riding cushions are rather bad for the horse and cause discomfort rather than comfort, because the girth runs directly across the back and distributes all pressure onto one, maybe two spinous processes.The Barefoot® 'Ride-On-Pad' has a v-girthing which distributes the pressure along the entire pad. We deliberately decided against stirrup attachments as standing in stirrups would lead to pressure points.The Barefoot® 'Ride-On-Pad' is padded with high density foam in alternating thickness and is very stable on the horse's back due to the Sympanova material on the underside. I bought this a few months ago, having first bought a barefoot Arizona for my canadian quarterhorse. Well to be honest I bought it for variety and for the evenings where I only had a few minutes to ride before darkness. I love it, I love to feel my horse move under me, it most definitely helps my balance and my concentration, but it also helps me to relax and be in tune with my horse. So many people thought I was mad, I trotted on this before I trotted in my saddle! But now, so many people have tried it and loved it too. It's the best confidence booster, as you feel all your horse's movements and you can tune into them and completely connect. You almost feel like part of your horse. My horse loves it too, I think, he stands completely still..even on the days I make a mess of mounting! Try one, you will love it.

I bought one of these over 10 years ago and still love it as much as I did then. I ride my Welsh cross mare in it frequently and also started my warmblood in it. It's extremely comfortable in walk, trot and canter feels very secure. I love how well I can feel my horse underneath me and how responsive she is to my seat. It's great for improving balance and timing as well as just being comfortable to ride on.
