Innovative Dressage saddle in soft leather with extra short skirts for Cobs or small riders.
(different width inserts are available for purchase separately) Ultra light with Barefoot-s well-proven VPS system. The extra narrow seat and special flat and short skirts allow excellent contact between the rider's leg and the horse. The detachable seats means the saddle is extremely flexible and adapts itself precisely to the horse's body shape. The open stirrup attachment is fixed between the seat and the saddles under construction and can easily be adjusted, given the rider an exact fit. Riders with unequal leg length can achieve an optimal position by moving stirrup attachment.
The saddle has a lower cantle. The anatomically contoured seat has a non-slip surface; the soft knee roll gently stabilizes the rider's leg into the correct position. The saddle is fitted with a flexible V-Girth.
As with all Barefoot saddles, the Barefoot 'Merlyn' can be placed further forward on the horse, thus placing the rider directly above its centre of gravity, making it easier for the horse to balance the rider's weight. Due to the lower cantle (about 2cm), the saddle is optically a little lower at the back than our other models.
As with all the Barefoot range, the medium sized pommel insert is exchangeable.
A = length of saddle
B = length of seat
C = length of skirt / saddle flap
Barefoot saddles are hand made. This makes every saddle unique. The measurements are therefore just reference points and can vary slightly.
Size 1: recommended for clothes sizes :
Ladies 8-12 Gents 28-32
A = approx. 51 cm B = approx. 36 cm C = approx 49cm
Please note: The lenght of the saddle (A) is the overall length. As there is no pressure at all in the rear part, the horse can move freely. Even if the saddle looks a little too long on your horse, choose the size according to your measurements. It is very important that the saddle fits the rider well, so he has enough space between thighs and pommel and does not sit on the pommel or cantle, which would limit the saddles adaptability. The horse's back is free of any pressure at the rear - the Barefoot can even be lifted slightly at the cantle with a rider on board.
